How To Enhance Your Home’s Curb Appeal

How To Enhance Your Home’s Curb Appeal

First impressions are everything, especially when it comes to your home. If you ask any realtor or home owner, they will most likely agree that curb appeal is important to buyers. The front yard, the driveway, the sidewalk is the first thing potential buyers will see when they arrive to your home. Here are some tips on revamping the outside of your home and wow a potential homebuyer.

Let’s start with doors

The front door is a focal point of any house, by giving it a fresh coat of paint, it will instantly update the appearance of the rest of the house. You can pick a contrasting colour for it to enhance the rest of the property. Updating the door knob or hardware will add to the curb appeal.

Then, move on to the garage doors. Especially if you have a larger garage, the doors take up as much as 40 per cent of the front of a house. Updating the doors will make a huge difference when it comes to curb appeal – and make sure it complements your brand new painted door!

Add some lights!

Change out old porch lights by adding some character to the front of the house – but don’t stop there – add accent lights along the walkway or around your potted plants. Solar lights are an affordable way to add some elegance to the front of the property.

Next up, landscaping

Take the landscaping a step further than just pulling out the weeds, plant some colourful flowers in your porch containers and front beds to liven up the appearance of your home. Spruce up your lawn with some lawn food and water, if you’ve got some bare spots, cover them up with seeds and sod and remember to mow frequently.

Now Just add furniture!

If you’ve got a small porch, a couple of chairs or a bench is a nice touch to help potential buyers envision living there. If you’ve got more space, add some comfy patio furniture, which will make the buyer feel warm and welcome as they enter your home.

Lots of sellers spend their time renovating the inside of the home without thinking about what the property looks on the outside because they’re so used to seeing it everyday. Once you’ve updated the curb appeal of your home, you will be sure to wow potential buyers and love coming home yourself!
